In those years people lived in great fear due to the violence unleashed with bombings and kidnappings perpetrated by the bloodthirsty groups “Sendero Luminoso” and the “Túpac Amaru Revolutionary Movement” against the Peruvian population.
The Tarata bombing, known also as the Miraflores bombing or Lima bombing, was a terrorist attack carried out in Tarata Street, located in the Miraflores District of Lima, Peru, on 16 July 1992, by a Shining Path terrorist cell. The blast was the deadliest Shining Path bombing during the time of terrorism in Peru.
